It’s Back! Save 2% on USPS Direct Mail Using Mobile Technology

USPS_QRCode_PromoThe USPS has yet again launched a promotion to demonstrate that direct mail is still a relevant part of the marketing mix. The 2017 Mobile Shopping promotion was designed to encourage customers to adapt and invest in mobile technology and combine it with direct mail.

Using the ScanLife Mobile Engagement Platform, Scanbuy has helped companies like Carter’s integrate QR Codes into their direct mail materials to promote mobile shopping.  ScanLife QR Codes were printed on direct mail flyers that were sent to millions of shoppers. Through a scan, consumers gained access to Carter’s mobile website where they could purchase the latest products and access promotions right from their mobile device.

Registration for the promotion is underway and runs from August 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017. It will feature a two percent (2%) postage discount on USPS Marketing Mail™ letters and flats and Nonprofit USPS Marketing Mail™ letters and flats. Each mail piece must contain a barcode, such as a QR code, or another technology that helps engage users in an electronic shopping experience. The barcode or other technology can be inside or outside of the mail piece.

Each mail piece must also have directional text, otherwise known as a call to action.  Directional text is a set of words that give consumers guidance on how to use the presented technology.  The directional text should be enticing and make consumers want to engage.  It should also be located near the barcode or image.
