2D Barcodes in Spain
30 Oct 2009 | Author: David J.
2D barcodes have been hot in Spain as both Telefonica and Vodafone are pre-loading the ScanLife app on new phones (locally known as BIDI). Below are a couple new campaigns using the service, one from Volksawgen and another from the Yellow Pages.
Volkswagen has been using 2D codes in a number of print ads that link to their mobile site. They are also using it in the US on their brochures for the 2010 GT1.
The Yellow Pages is also using codes to connect local advertisers to mobile content, right from the traditional phone book. This is a great example of 2D barcodes can make traditional media interactive. Businesses of any size can place a code in their ad which can display their contact info, or other service information via the mobile web.
